Interview with Erin Wilmer, owner of Wilmer Financial and Board Member of the Perdido Key Area Chamber of Commerce
 
1. INTRODUCTION AND BACKGROUND
Q: What is your business or profession, and how does it contribute to the Perdido Key community?
A: I’m a financial advisor, and I contribute to the community by offering free financial literacy classes and boot camps to help individuals and families make informed financial decisions.
Q: Can you briefly describe your role or job within your business?
A: I’m the owner of my financial advising practice.
Q: Can you please introduce yourself and briefly describe your current position within the Chamber's Board of Directors?
A: I’m Erin, born and raised in Pensacola. I served 24 years in the Navy and retired. I’ve been on the Chamber board since 2013 and a member since 2012. I chair the Military Committee and the Chamber Foundation, focusing on military affairs.
Q: How long have you been a member of the Perdido Key Area Chamber of Commerce?
A: I have been a member since 2012.
 
2. INVOLVEMENT WITH THE CHAMBER
Q: What motivated you to start getting involved with the Chamber, and how did you initially become a member?
A: I saw how the Chamber supports small businesses, helping to promote and assist business owners. I was recommended to join, quickly understood the value of the Chamber, and was later nominated to the board.
Q: Could you share a memorable experience or achievement during your tenure with the Chamber?
A: One of my most memorable experiences was organizing a military appreciation event where we raised over $40,000 for military members and their families.
 
3. IMPACT OF SERVING ON THE BOARD
Q: In what ways has serving on the Chamber's Board of Directors positively impacted you personally and professionally?
A: Personally, I’ve built strong friendships and connections. Professionally, it’s been rewarding to partner with others in supporting and promoting local businesses.
 
4. ADVICE FOR CHAMBER MEMBERS
Q: Based on your experience, what advice would you offer to new or existing Chamber members looking to maximize their involvement and benefits?
A: Get involved! Serve on a committee, attend events, and partner with the Chamber to help promote and market your business.

5. PERSONAL INSIGHTS
Q: Beyond your professional endeavors, could you share a hobby or interest that you're passionate about?
A: I enjoy spending time at the beach and being with my family.
Q: What drives your commitment to community involvement, and are there any other organizations or causes you're passionate about supporting?
A: My military experience instilled a servant’s heart in me, making it natural to serve the community. I’m involved with organizations like Impact 100, the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, and the Wilmer Foundation, which promotes financial literacy in the community. I’m also an elder and leader at Pensacola Life Church.

6. FUTURE OUTLOOK
Q: Looking ahead, what do you envision for the future of the Perdido Key Area Chamber of Commerce?
A: I see growth, with more businesses recognizing the value of the Chamber, getting involved, and joining.
