We See You Photo Exhibit
THE HER FOUNDATION and Kate Treick Photography: "We See You" Photo Exhibit Reveal Pensacola, Florida - The HER Foundation Inc. has teamed up with Kate Treick Photography to develop We See You a photo exhibit saluting female veterans in Pensacola and the Florida panhandle. The exhibit will be unveiled October 23, 2020, 5:30 pm at the Studer Community Institute, 220 W. Garden Street in downtown Pensacola, FL. This is a free event. The exhibit will be on display until October 30, 2020. The We See You Pensacola exhibit consists of more than 110 portraits of local women veterans from every branch of service. It highlights everyday women who enlisted and often faced unique challenges. Many were firsts in their fields, trendsetters, leaders, role models, and mentors. Foundational skills were developed that they carried into civilian careers and into leadership roles in their communities. Their military experiences made them the women they are and their stories deserve to be told. The exhibit was designed to increase awareness of local women veterans and attempt to overcome the marginalization that many faced both during and upon return from their time in service. The HER Foundation wants these veterans to know they are no longer invisible. We SEE every one of them. By displaying their portraits in this exhibit, we invite the community to see them as well. You may see a face you recognize, but you never knew about her military experiences and her service to our country. Learn about her story. The hope is this project will start conversations and increase awareness and understanding, so we can take time to say, Thank You. Among the women featured in We See You is Betty Jankowski, a member of the United States Naval Reserve (Women's Reserve) WAVES, which was established during WWII. Ms. Betty did not know that she was going to be a trendsetter and that all three of her daughters also would serve in the U.S. Navy.
