Perdido Key Area Chamber of Commerce Breakfast Brief
The Perdido Key Area Chamber of Commerce Breakfast Brief is held on the first Friday of each month and brings the community together to learn about and discuss important issues and updates that affect local residents and businesses.
Each month a community leader will speak on a topic relevant to life in and near Perdido Key.
The featured speaker for March is Christian Wagley of the non-profit organization,
Healthy Gulf.
Healthy Gulf’s purpose is to collaborate with and serve communities who love the Gulf of Mexico by providing the research, communications, and coalition-building tools needed to reverse the long pattern of over exploitation of the Gulf’s natural resources.
In his role as Florida / Alabama Coastal Organizer Wagley works to protect water quality, create a healthy energy future, and improve coastal resilience in communities along the Florida panhandle and Southeast Alabama. His previous work experience includes land use planning, green building, clean energy advocacy, and the connection between community design and water quality.
Topics of interest to Perdido Area residents include
--a wind energy study area off Perdido Key;
--the latest on offshore drilling threats off FL and in the Gulf;
--work going on now to develop a plan for sand erosion at Pensacola Pass and how to get sand over to Perdido Key (FDEP and consultants);
--a proposed industrial-scale fish farm for around 20 miles offshore from Perdido Key.
