2023 World Ocean Day Open House 2023
Thursday, June 8, 2023, will be a day of environmentally focused games, activities, and art projects at the Perdido Key Area Chamber of Commerce and Visitor's Center.
The Chamber, along with multiple partner agencies, will be presenting information on protecting our beaches and marine habitat in conjunction with World Ocean Day.
Friends of Pensacola State Parks, The Perdido Key Association, Gulf Islands National Seashore, Escambia County Natural Resources Department, Clean Horizons, Healthy Gulf, and Friends of the Southwest Library, will all share more information and fun activities geared to all ages, designed to educate on the importance of protecting and preserving native plants and species that call Perdido Key home.
ECUA will share information on how to keep our drinking water safe with a visit by the "Quench Buggy".
Ocean Strike Team will educate attendees on invasive lion fish removal efforts through spearfishing while guests gather around the Chamber's 403-gallon pirate ship fish tank, home to a lionfish named Simba, the focus of the Chamber's lionfish educational display.
Visitors can also visit the native planting garden project located adjacent to the Perdido Key Area Chamber of Commerce and Visitor's Information Center. The mini park includes interpretive signage describing various native plants and how they benefit local wildlife in alignment with the Perdido Key Habitat Protection Plan.
The event will run from 10 am to 2 pm and is free to attend. The address of the Chamber of Commerce is 15500 Perdido Key Drive, Perdido Key Florida.
