Interview with Vickie Loper, Alabama Credit Union Branch Manager and Board at the Perdido Key Area Chamber of Commerce
1. INTRODUCTION AND BACKGROUND
Q: What is your business or profession, and how does it contribute to the Perdido Key community?
A: I am the branch manager for Alabama Credit Union. We are the only credit union located in Perdido Key!
Q: Can you briefly describe your role or job within your business?
A: We offer a variety of financial services.
Q: Can you please introduce yourself and briefly describe your current position within the Chamber's Board of Directors?
A: I am a recent addition to the Perdido Chamber Board of Directions. I am an active member in many committees. I am a member of the Ambassadors of the Key, a member of the steering committee for our Women Mean Business Group, and sit on the Leadership Perdido Key board.
Q: How long have you been a member of the Perdido Key Area Chamber of Commerce?
A: I have been a member for 8 years now, ever since I started working with AL Credit Union.
2. INVOLVEMENT WITH THE CHAMBER
Q: What motivated you to start getting involved with the Chamber, and how did you initially become a member?
A: I was motivated by the opportunity to build relationships in the community.
Q: Could you share a memorable experience or achievement during your tenure with the Chamber?
A: I have recently had the honor to be on the team to start Leadership Perdido Key. I am very passionate about leadership classes/programs, and it is a wonderful opportunity for our community and members. I have graduated from 3 chamber leadership programs in Georgia.
3. IMPACT OF SERVING ON THE BOARD
Q: In what ways has serving on the Chamber's Board of Directors positively impacted you personally and professionally?
A: I have made many great friends and business relationships. Best Chamber Ever!
4. ADVICE FOR CHAMBER MEMBERS
Q: Based on your experience, what advice would you offer to new or existing Chamber members looking to maximize their involvement and benefits?
A: Get involved, serve on a committee, and attend events.
5. PERSONAL INSIGHTS
Q: Beyond your professional endeavors, could you share a hobby or interest that you're passionate about?
A: I love to cook and watch the Food Network!
Q: What drives your commitment to community involvement, and are there any other organizations or causes you're passionate about supporting?
A: I am very blessed, and it is my responsibility to give back. I am a big supporter of our AL Credit Union Charity Secret Meals for Hungry Children. I also am involved with Save Underdogs and the Wounded Warrior Project.
6. FUTURE OUTLOOK
Q: Looking ahead, what do you envision for the future of the Perdido Key Area Chamber of Commerce?
A: I know that we’ll have growth in the PK Chamber, but keeping the close, friendly, fun vibe we have now is so important as we grow. It makes us who we are!
