1. INTRODUCTION AND BACKGROUND
Q: What is your business or profession, and how does it contribute to the Perdido Key community?
A: I am a psychology professor at CSU, where I have been teaching for eight years. My work has a regional focus, and I am deeply involved in the community.

Q: Can you briefly describe your role or job within your business?
A: As a psychology professor, I engage with students and the community, fostering a deeper understanding of mental health and well-being.

Q: Can you please introduce yourself and briefly describe your current position within the Chamber's Board of Directors?
A: My name is Dean Wood. I am currently the Vice Chair of the Board of Directors and the incoming Chair. I am active outdoors and have a strong community focus. I believe that doing things for others is the best reward in life.

Q: How long have you been a member of the Perdido Key Area Chamber of Commerce?
A: I have been a member for five years.
 
2. INVOLVEMENT WITH THE CHAMBER
Q: What motivated you to start getting involved with the Chamber, and how did you initially become a member?
A: My wife is a member, and I started attending events with her prior to having a role within the Chamber. Columbia Southern University is a member of our Chamber so I stepped up and became the representative for CSU with the Perdido Chamber.

Q: Could you share a memorable experience or achievement during your tenure with the Chamber?
A: One memorable experience and achievement is being honored to receive the Ambassador of the Year award in 2022. 

 
3. IMPACT OF SERVING ON THE BOARD
Q: In what ways has serving on the Chamber's Board of Directors positively impacted you personally and professionally?
A: Serving on the Board for the last 3 years has given me the opportunity to stay involved with the community and make a positive impact on our chamber.

 
4. ADVICE FOR CHAMBER MEMBERS
Q: Based on your experience, what advice would you offer to new or existing Chamber members looking to maximize their involvement and benefits?
A: Get involved. People do business with those they know and like. Join a committee you are passionate about, network with as many members as possible, and have fun!
 
5. PERSONAL INSIGHTS
Q: Beyond your professional endeavors, could you share a hobby or interest that you're passionate about?
A: I have been passionate about playing rugby. I have been playing for about 40 years. I also enjoy outdoor activities like scuba diving, snowboarding, swimming, and martial arts—anything active.

Q: What drives your commitment to community involvement, and are there any other organizations or causes you're passionate about supporting?
A: I have always been interested in sports, but the best reward comes from doing things for others, I enjoy making a positive impact in others' lives. I participate and organize the Vampire Rugby Barefoot Beach Rugby Tournament with my twin brother, Dale. This event serves as a fundraiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and also a blood drive. The tournament is held on the second weekend in May at the Flora-Bama.
 
6. FUTURE OUTLOOK
Q: Looking ahead, what do you envision for the future of the Perdido Key Area Chamber of Commerce?
A: I envision a three-peat in the Best of Florida awards, growing our membership to a maximum of 450 members, and offering more workshops to improve our business skills and knowledge.
