Concert in the Park-Gypsy Spark and Jon Cook
Big Lagoon State Park, partnering with the Friends of Pensacola State Parks, wants to invite you to an evening concert at the Amphitheater with the Gypsy Spark Band and Jon Cook. This concert is free for park visitors paying regular park entrance fees. The Gypsy Spark Band is from lower Alabama, they will tantalize your senses with both original and familiar tunes, crafted by front man Jimmy Lumpkin and Brenda Bledsoe. Jimmy is an accomplished singer, songwriter and guitarist with an intoxicating voice and a stirring, soulful bend to his own brand of southern-roots folk music. His recent album titled "Home", was released in 2017. Talia Lumpkin adds rhythmic percussion and sweet harmonies to give this group an uplifting tribal sound. Wyoming native, Brenda Bledsoe is a talented multi-instrumentalist who delights listeners with her crystal clear voice, thoughtful lyrics and captivating flute sounds. The band is recording their debut album in March, 2019.
Jon Cook local professional guitarist will join Gypsy Spark. He grew up in Connecticut and moved to the Gulf Coast in 2000, after numerous visits to play the Flora-Bama and various venues with former partner Taylor Hicks during his college years. Jon is currently performing with The Perdido Brothers (Rick Whaley & Pat McCann), Hurricane Warning featuring Larry T. Wilson, as well as various side projects. He released his first solo album, Songs From The Bottom, in the fall of 2013.
